This course is designed to provide utility operating personnel, power plant designers, and other interested parties with a basic understanding of the concepts, hardware and functions of fire protection as they apply to the electric power generating industry. This understanding is the starting point for providing and maintaining appropriate fire protection for power plants.

The three-day course is followed by an optional fourth-day session devoted to fire protection of nuclear power plants.

Instructors

HSB Professional Loss Control is a dynamic engineering consulting firm that provides a broad range of services in the field of fire protection engineering. A major portion of the company's activities have centered on fire protection and risk management applied to the utilities industries throughout the United States and overseas. These fire protection services have included developing fire hazard analyses, developing engineering design criteria, developing design specifications, reviewing engineering design, developing and presenting training programs, reviewing research and testing programs, developing detailed plant prefire plans, and providing inspections and audit services. This experience provides us with a valuable understanding of fire hazards and current hazard control techniques available to the electric power generating industry.
